The Welcome Home Fund has been dissolved effective December 31, 2020. Read on to learn more about why, and to discover other ways to give. 

Since its inception in 2014, the Welcome Home Fund, a restricted fund administered by the Coalition for the Homeless of Houston/Harris County on behalf of The Way Home Continuum of Care, has provided home goods, one-time financial assistance, and furniture for clients placed in permanent supportive housing. Thanks to the support of gracious donors like you, the Welcome Home Fund has helped turn houses into homes for thousands of chronically homeless individuals and families throughout Harris, Fort Bend, and Montgomery counties.

As the Coalition looked at projections for the remainder of 2020 and into 2021, it has made the decision to dissolve the Welcome Home Fund as it is currently configured, so we can work to find a more sustainable way to cover these costs, in collaboration with our partner agencies. The Coalition stopped accepting donations to this fund on December 31^st, 2020.

Simultaneously, our community is implementing the Community COVID Housing Program (CCHP): https://www.homelesshouston.org/CCHP ,over the next two years. This program has funding allocated to cover the same items paid for by the Welcome Home Fund for all CoC permanent housing programs, so the impact of this decision on our partners will be negligible.

We are grateful for our community members who serve as a critical piece of our work as a homeless response system. We hope you will decide to continue your support in one of the ways below:

• By setting up monthly contributions to support our COVID response fund: https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/cchphouston/, which will provide many of the same supports as the Welcome Home Fund. Current monthly donations to the Welcome Home Fund will be automatically canceled as of December 31^st.
• By finding a direct service partner of The Way Home CoC: https://thewayhomehouston.org/partners/,that you can volunteer with or support with monetary gifts.
• By donating to the Coalition for the Homeless’ general fund: https://www.homelesshouston.org/donate . Our donors help support our critical work to coordinate resources and collaboration so that everyone has a safe place to call home. 

We know that together we achieve more, and the Coalition has been honored to offer this resource to our direct service provider agencies over these many years.
